Yesterday, I made a brief list of things I am thankful for in my life. The last thing on that list was TC. I wish I could name all the things I am thankful for regarding him, but I come up with new ones every day. So here is small sampling of why I’m thankful for that boy. He is my best friend, my soulmate*, and my absolute favorite person on the entire planet. A Five for Friday dedicated to him 🙂

– He takes care of me. Not only when I’m sick or hurt, but financially, mentally and emotionally as well.
– He never ceases to make me laugh. Even when I don’t feel like it.
– He takes good care of the dogs and I know that ONE DAY, he will make a great father.
– He includes me in decision making.
– Sometimes he says really, really sweet things that make me blush and feel incredibly loved.
– He likes to see me first thing in the morning, with no make, messy hair and sleepy eyes. He says that’s when I’m most beautiful.
– He loves me. Through all of my crazy, goofiness and clumsiness, he still loves me for me and I can always be myself around him.

Now… off for more pie! Yummy pie!!

❤ always, Meg

*I think that soulmate is a interesting term. Be looking for a post on this in the near, near future.

Five for Friday:

Why I hate Daylight Savings Time

  1. It will get dark at a little after 5:00 p.m. now.
  2. The sun rises before 6:00 a.m.
  3. My perception of time will REALLY be off.
  4. It means that Fall is coming to an end.
  5. The pups are will be screwed up on their time schedule too… 4:00 a.m. wake ups will not make me happy.

Five things I believe I’ll love about Florida:

1. OMG I LOVE THE BEACH.
2. Seafood that tastes like is real seafood.
3. Sunscreen. I love the smell of sunscreen and since I burn just thinking about going out in the sun, I’ll constantly smell like sunscreen.
4. Golf. You can golf all but about 1.5 months out of the year I’m told.
5. Good beer: Yuengling and Landshark. Yum 🙂

I’m a day late. I know… it’s the first Five for Friday and it’s a day late. I’ll do better next week, I promise!!

Sometimes TC goes away for extended periods of time. Those times aren’t a walk in the park. I love him dearly and I miss him when he’s gone but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Having him away from home (most of the time with limited communication) makes us appreciate each other and not take the time we have together for granted.

Posh… Silly! You say! But really, it’s one of the things that I LOVE about our relationship. The time I have with him is not guaranteed  and there is a chance that when he leaves, I might not get another moment with him for a very long time. Deployments, TDYs and exercises call him away at all hours of the day and night. They take him away for unknown amounts of time. They put him in places that I’ll never know. He might not come back. So I cherish the time I have with him while he’s actually home.

Most couples don’t get this experience. They have that other person, that support, with them at all times. Planning holidays together months in advance without the caveat of “well, maybe, if he’s in the country!”  Knowing that birthdays, anniversaries and all those special moments in life will be celebrated by both husband and wife. It’s a tough situation to be in, not knowing where he is, when I’ll talk to him again and when he’ll be back, but standing strong is a must.

So, in honor of these moments, here is this week’s Five for Friday: Five reasons I love my husband’s career and our choice of living this life together.

1. He gets to see exotic parts of the world and comes home with crazy stories and pictures.

2. Communicating strictly through email for two months straight makes us appreciate simple phone calls and being able to talk face to face when he gets home.

3. The birthdays/anniversaries/holidays I actually get to spend with him are special, and not just another day.

4. I get to relive our first kiss over and over again.

5. I am shown several times a year that I am a strong and independent woman who chooses to be with the man I love just because I love him, not because I depend on him to hold my hand through life.

I love TC more and more with each time he’s away. I might re-visit this later on. Stay tuned!
